Does cropping reduce image dimensions or file size?
Cropping removes pixels outside your selection without scaling the remaining area. File size depends on encoding and is not guaranteed to be smaller. Use Resize to scale an image or Compress for a target KB size.
What happens to transparency and metadata?
PNG keeps transparency. JPG is re-encoded as lossy JPG. Original metadata is not copied; browser encoding and colors can vary. Check the result before using it.
